Why I'm Running For Re-Election
I’m running for re-election to the Revere School Board because I believe in the power of education to transform lives and communities. Throughout my 5 year term, I’ve worked hard to ensure that our students receive the resources, support, and opportunities they deserve. I’m committed to continuing that work by building on the successes we’ve achieved, addressing the challenges ahead, and ensuring that every child in our district has the opportunity to succeed. Together, we can continue to create a school environment that not only prepares students for the future but also honors the values and traditions that make our community strong.
Serving on the Revere Local School Board has been one of the most meaningful ways I’ve been able to give back to a community I care deeply about. As I seek a second term, my focus remains on ensuring our district continues to thrive while improving in areas that matter most to our students, families, and community.
The core duties of a school board member are to ensure financial health, transparency, and accountability. Revere is an outstanding district, and while we have much to be proud of, there are still areas where we can grow. My priorities for this next term reflect my commitment to students, staff, and our broader community.
Issues
-
Fostering A Positive Culture
My top priority is to help shape a culture where every student is supported, every voice is valued, and every community member feels safe and heard.
Some of the best districts around the country are using tools like a Community Culture Playbook, centered around three pillars:
Care & Communicate – Build trust through transparency, active listening, and empathy.
Connect & Collaborate – Encourage students, staff, and families to work together across differences.
Celebrate – Acknowledge achievements and ways in which we are different. Create an attitude of gratitude.
By promoting a unified culture, we build a stronger school district where students thrive, and community members feel proud and engaged.
-
Supporting Student Mental Health and Wellbeing
Every student deserves to be heard and the freedom to express the pressures they face.
We must prioritize mental health by:
Expanding mentoring programs that work in tandem with our counseling staff, including a peer-to-peer mentoring program.
Providing opportunities where students can have honest conversations about their struggles.
Encouraging peer support and empathy-building, so students and mentors alike grow in understanding and resilience.
No student should feel isolated or singled out in their challenges. With the right support systems in place, we can foster a climate where students feel connected, seen, and cared for. Every child should have the opportunity to build resilience, knowing that they are supported and empowered to overcome obstacles.

Welcome New Families, Empower Existing Ones
Revere is a close-knit community and, while that’s something we value, it can sometimes make it difficult for newcomers to feel truly connected. I’m excited to propose the creation of a Revere 'Welcome Team'—a group dedicated to helping new families feel supported, informed, and welcomed from day one. Hosting a Fall Revere 'Welcome' Event for all of our new families is one way to ensure they feel connected and supported from the very beginning. Whether it's navigating our schools, understanding district and local resources, or simply feeling part of the community, this initiative will help ensure that everyone who chooses Revere feels like they belong.
In addition to welcoming new families, we must also focus on educating and empowering our existing ones with key information, such as the IEP process, 504 plans, gifted programs, sharing athletic and extracurricular schedules across all four buildings to highlight important dates and opportunities, and everything in between. I would love to see focused informational sessions for all families offered in the Fall, accompanied by 'check-in' sessions throughout the year. The best way to gauge how effectively the district is communicating is by asking families themselves. By ensuring every family is well-informed about the resources and opportunities available to their children, we foster an environment where all students have the support they need to succeed and, in turn, create a stronger, more unified Revere.

Fiscal Responsibility
As a school board member, fiscal responsibility is not just about balancing a budget—it’s about making sure every dollar entrusted to our district directly supports student learning and long-term community success. Our taxpayers, families, teachers, and students deserve transparency, accountability, and wise financial stewardship.
I care deeply about fiscal responsibility because:
1.) It protects educational quality – By budgeting wisely, we ensure funding for quality teachers, up-to-date materials, safe facilities, and programs that meet student needs—without unnecessary cuts or disruption.
2.) It builds community trust – Voters and taxpayers want to know their money is used effectively. Responsible financial planning helps maintain credibility and strengthens public support for our schools.
3.) It supports long-term planning – Good fiscal management allows us to plan for the future, maintain infrastructure, invest in new opportunities, and prepare for economic uncertainty without compromising students' education.
4.) It reflects our values – Budgets are moral documents. Where we spend shows what we prioritize. Fiscal responsibility means aligning resources with student-centered values and district goals.
Being fiscally responsible doesn’t mean doing more with less—it means doing better with what we have. Our Treasurer, Rick Berdine, has done an outstanding job managing our funds and keeping us off the ballot, with no levy projected for years to come. My commitment is to continue supporting that effort, ensuring every investment we make helps our students thrive and keeps our district strong for generations to come.
These are just a few of the issues I’m passionate about, and I’ll continue to bring a thoughtful, solutions-oriented approach to every challenge we face as a district. Together, we can build an even stronger district—one that reflects our values, supports our students, and leads with heart and integrity.
